Trapped Words
When I write my words just flow
I sing to them and let them go
Poems are just another nature
Part of my inspired nurture
Caress the words and free their spirit
Held inside the tranquil purest
Empty echoes of my mind
Write the words that I unbind
Tame and calm I let them free
Turned to change or leave them be
Rest or run at my whim
Freed from all my thoughts within
The rhyming comes as a sixth sense
Released along with recompense
To the wounded or fallen words
Left behind in idle herds
Unable to make the call of day
Washed with rain and carried away
To my idle mind again
Held beneath the sentence when
Along comes another poem
Out to which this word shall roam
It either fits or fails to see
Washed in rain and swept to me
And there I hold to each new thought
Every single word I’ve draught
And kiss and care with each new poem
Pray the word heeds to roam
With it’s herd and so will be
Nestled in peace and harmony
Or fall again to my feet
Swept up in the thunder’s beat
Brought back to wait within
Watching all it’s mournful kin
Hope to see a passing rhyme
They can fit into this time
But in the end they fall to me
And I carry them off to wait and see
For another try to be
Not another trapped word in me
