Moontears racked his brain for herbs in which to help strengthen Sunstorm beyond what he and his apprentice had already offered, but there was little he could do at this point. He sighed, feeling frustrated in his helplessness. "We shall look after and treat the others while you are away, Sunstorm." he meowed, lowering his head slightly.
Pantherfang quickly flanked Sunstorm's other side. I will carry her there if her steps begin to falter.... thought the strong tom. He felt a jolt of emotion surge through him as his black pelt touched her sun colored one. He winced. The only thing he could feel right now was exaughstion and pain. Sparrowpaw....Rainfeather.... he thought as his heart screamed in anguish. Eclipsedstar.... Pantherfang furrowed his brow in determination. He still had a son left to fight for. He still had his clan. "I will make sure that she reaches the Moonpool safely. While we are gone, try to keep as many cats in the camp as possible. Lostclan is pathetic and preys on the weakened." he scowled.

Whitepaw felt a flicker of fear as Pantherfang expressed his hatred of LostClan. Again she dreaded how he might react to her if he knew she had been born there, had a brother there. Would he still think her a WindClanner? Perhaps even understand why she left? Or would he see her as the enemy? Even worse, what would Sunstorm, the cat who was going to be leader, do to her? Would she banish her from the Clan?
Sunstorm welcomed Pantherfang's help. She too, felt emotions whirl as their pelts touched. But they were confused by grief and fatigue. Each step she took was convicted, but unsure at the same time. But she knew, with the Clan's support, that she could make it to the Moonpool. She had to, for all their sakes.

Moontears padded over to Whitepaw, unsure of what to do with himself. "So what else to Medicine cats do...when all the wounds are bandaged?" he asked.

Whitepaw was unsure of how to answer. But a breeze tugged her fur, and she felt a presence, and it felt ancient, but somehow still vibrant in soul. It seemed to give her confidence, filling her heart with words of certainty.
"A medicine cat... is much more than any healer. They have a strong link with our ancestors; here they call them StarClan. StarClan warns us when things are going to happen, and only a medicine cat can interpret the signs. I... haven't seen any signs, but... I can hear them. They come to me in my dreams, and I get... feelings about things..." she hoped he hadn't noticed how she had deliberately avoided saying that they were her ancestors.
"Remember, Whitepaw, that you had a father here. And even without WindClan blood, you are as welcome among our stars as any cat who looks to them. You have the heart of a true medicine cat. Never forget that..." she heard a voice, one she couldn't quite describe. It was familiar, yet alien at the same time. But she sensed in it ageless wisdom, which washed away it's mystery. StarClan believed in her, and was with her.

"Hmm" Moontears nodded. "In our clan, the leader was the only medicine cat. It is interesting to have someone else advise the clan leader. I never thought to have much power here." he said in surprise. "You actually hear them? Our leader would try to interpret signs in the stone cave. Is there a place you go where they speak to you? Or do they speak to you all the time?" he asked curiously.

"Not... all the time. Mostly in my dreams, but not every night. But we do have a special place to talk to them. On the halfmoon the medicine cats from each Clan gather at the Moonpool, and we talk to StarClan. That's also where deputies go to become leaders, and recieve their nine lives... that's where Sunstorm went with Pantherfang," she explained. She glanced in the direction of the Moonpool, hoping everything was going okay. She sensed that there was much heartache for Sunstorm in seeing friends and family, especially those lost to her so soon. But she felt that the young she-cat was strong enough to carry on. Whitepaw had sensed that conviction in her the moment they had met.

Moontears nodded solemly. "I wish I had more experience. I came here hoping that I could learn more and use my abilities...I didn't expect to be teaching someone. There isn't a lot of rock and water here like I'm used to in the mountains either, so it's hard for me to teach you about our remedies when I can't show them to you." he meowed remorsefully.
