Jaystar stepped back and looked at the beautiful she-cat who could have been his mate with admiration and pride.
"I hail you by your new name, Sunstar. Your old life is no more. You have now received the nine lives of a leader, and StarClan grants you the guardianship of WindClan. Defend it well; care for young and old; honor your ancestors and the traditions of the warrior code; live each life with pride and dignity. We will continue to guide and watch over you as you face the struggles of the forest and the battle with Lostclan. Do not hesitate to call on us for aid." He meowed.

Sunstorm stood along with the StarClan cats, raising her head as they chanted her new name. "Sunstar! Sunstar!" she heard an unfamiliar voice, and spun around to see a new cat approaching, a beautiful red tabby, who looked just like her.
"M-mother?" she guessed, and the she-cat nodded.
"Yes. I shouldn't be here, but I wanted to congratulate you. And also, to give you a warning about your brother. You may have to face him in battle again, and the next you meet, depending on his choices, he may be LostClan's new leader. He will be more dangerous in this new position, as his Clan will no longer be divided as it is under Jag's rule. Coal has a great vision for LostClan, and if succeeds in becoming leader, he will become a much more dangerous threat than Jag, or any leader before them," she warned, and Sunstar felt even more uncertain. She sighed, and closed her eyes, shaking off the forboding feeling in her heart.
"I will do my best," she resolved, and the dream ended.
She woke, next to the Moonpool, and all the aches in her body returned, along with renewed heartache at having seen all her gone loved ones again. She felt even more dependant upon Pantherfang now.
"Pantherfang," she called, rising unsteadily to her feet.

Pantherfang loped down the slope near the pool, no longer caring about the uncertainty as to whether or not he was welcome in the sacred place. "Sunstorm" He meowed, kneeling down beside her so that she could put her weight against him. "Has Starclan accepted you? Are you alright?" He meowed.

"It's Sunstar now,," she corrected. "I cannot speak of the dream to you, but I have been warned about LostClan. I'm not sure if you knew, but I have a half brother in that Clan, and I was told to be wary of him. If he gains power in LostClan, it will make them a much bigger threat than they are now. LostClan has always relied on brute force and swift destruction. But they aren't unified. If Coal organizes the Clan..." she trailed off, not wanting to think of the danger that could ensue.
"We need to return to WindClan," she meowed, leaning against Pantherfang's massive shoulder. Even though he once represented the dangers looming over their heads now, she knew that she could trust him will her very lives.

Pantherfang nodded. "As if they needed to be an even greater threat" he growled, thinking of the personal losses he had suffered. "Sunstor---star....did you see..." Pantherfang closed his eyes. "Was my family there?" he asked in a soft, sad tone.

"Yes, they were there. I know how you miss them Pantherfang... I feel the same way as you," she whispered, daring to brush against him lightly with her cheek, a tear drifting from her golden eyes. Her love for Jaystar lay like a heavy stone in her heart, one she knew would probably always be there. But would it always hurt this much?
"L-let's go home, Pantherfang..." she sighed.

The large black tom sighed heavily, his jealousy almost tangible that she had been able to see his family and that he had not, though the fact that she saw them comforted him somewhat. He knew that Sunstar's losses were great like his. He padded along silently beside her, his pawsteps making a light tapping noise as they touched the cool stone beneath his paws. Windclan had a new leader now...but why did he not feel comforted? He stole a glance at Sunstar with his glowing green eyes. Could he bear to watch her lives taken away by Lostclan, one by one? Or many at once, like Jaystar? He twitched his ears, trying to become more aware of his environment and less on his troubling thoughts.

Sunstar felt her ears burn slightly with guilt that she had seen Pantherfang's family while he had not been able to.
Oh StarClan, how I wish I could comfort him... please, Rainfeather, show me what to do... she prayed, and limped forth, back towards WindClan, leaning on that strong black shoulder for support. She kept her eyes on what lay in front of her, taking one step at a time, heading for her new future. But she didn't feel any more powerful, or confident, now that she had nine lives to protect her Clan. What lay beyond this dark night? Was there a peaceful dawn to come? Or would death cast it's bloodred shadow over this land? Who would live to see the end... these questions haunted her heart.

Panthefang noticed Sunstar gazing down at her paws as she walked. He followed her gaze and saw his large, stark black paw beside her more delicate fiery colored one. It made him think of Russettail and Magicheart, and what it would be like to love a cat from another clan, to have kits separated by borders. Pantherfang knew that as a cat that was raised outside of the clans, his pride may never be as strong as some of those that were clanborn. He loved Windclan and felt that he belonged there, but having once spent his life as a loner, and another running with Ripper's pack, he knew that having strong allies was much stronger than clanborn pride. Would the other clans finally realize this? Was it too late? Pantherfang noticed that the sky was beginning to lighten, and the twinkling lights of silverpelt seemed to shine less and less brightly than on the way they had come. Let them come he thought to himself, his brilliant emerald eyes blazing with determination. Unlike those in Lostclan, I will always have something more important to fight for than power lust.

The dawn was approached, slowly and steadily. The sun hesitantly paused over the horizon, gently spreading it's light over the world, giving it life anew. She wondered if this peaceful transition was a sign of things to come. As Silverpelt began to fade, she hoped it was a good sign. She hoped to find her Clan as peaceful as this gentle morning. Perhaps that would help ease the dull ache in her heart. The ache that was the residual heartbeat of those she had left behind, and those who's shoulders she stood upon now, their lives willingly merged with hers. Their strength thrummed through her soul now, but again, it offered her little comfort, with the threat of the present looming over the horizon, slightly darkening that soft sunlight.
"Let's hurry and be home, Pantherfang," she sighed, her voice slightly far away in her exhaustion, and the strength of her current reflections.

Pantherfang nodded. "It's been a long day." he commented. Lost in thought, he hadn't been aware of how his body ached, the bruises and scratches he had received from battle seemed nonexistent until now. He sighed and continued to walk slowly beside the new Windclan leader (continued in Windclan)
