"Failure!" Bear heard the words echoing around him, wounding his pride and stirring in him a new fury, but he cannot move. Pantherfang's paw is pressed so tightly against his throat he can hardly breathe. What are these fools waiting for? He thinks, expecting his clanmates to come to his aid. After all, this is Pantherfang, the tom that helped cause the demise of Lostclan not once, but twice now. They should be ripping him apart!
"It seems we are at an impass here. I will let your warrior live in exchange for our apprentice." Pantherfang snarls, looking at Bear with contempt. He wouldn't mind killing him then and there. One less threat to the forest. But, it is much more important that Phoenixpaw makes it back home safe. The fate of the forest depends on it.
Pheonixpaw practically holds her breath in anticipation, still dangling from the jaws of one of the Lostclan warriors. I want to go home! she thinks miserably, looking at her father, Russettail, who stands beside Pantherfang.

Coal stood, speaking now for the clan since Jag was no where to be seen. Midnight watched from his den, Abyss laying beside him, the hostility for the Windclan tom showing clearly in her eyes, but she did not move. Midnight too, had eyes only for Pantherfang, but remained still as though he were a shadow, only his gold orbs showing from his den, the sapphite of Abyss' next to his.
"Very well. Take her," Coal said, knowing he was no match for Pantherfang. Bear was too valuable to be expendable.
"But remember, you have not seen the last of Lostclan. We will return," Coal hissed, his pale gold eyes turning to slits. He signaled to his fellow warrior to release Phoenixpaw.
"Leave before we change our minds," he warned.

Pantherfang lets the deep growl in his throat rumble in the tension filled silence. The Eight need to leave. We can't afford to wait any longer! He thinks to himself. "If Jag decides to show his face, let him know I was looking for him. Let him know that there are those in the forest not afraid to fight back." The giant tom turns to his best friend, Russettail, "Let's get out of here. The others will be worried." he whispers. Phoenixpaw runs over to her father, overjoyed. "Come on, dad! Let's go home!" she pleads eagerly.

Coal snorted. "I'll pass along the message," he said, sneering.
"I have a message for you. Tell your dear Sunstorm that her brother 'wishes her well'," he smirked, mocking humor in his voice. He waited for them to leave so he could talk to Bear alone. He knew the large tom was liable to be furious. Oh well. Bear couldn't lay a paw on Coal. He was too manipulative.
Midnight came out just then, and turned his eyes towards Phoenixpaw. He recognized the gold of her eyes.
"You're that speckled tom's sister. You have the same eyes. Or rather, he has the same 'eye'," Midnight's eyes were cold, though a smile played on his face. He vanished back into his den, laying beside Abyss, who began purring darkly.
"You must tell me that tale someday," she said to him. And then they began sharing tongues. A dark romance was beginning to unfold.

Phoenixpaw went rigid in the jaws of her father. What was he talking about? How could he know Inkpaw? He was probably just making something up to try and get to her....but still...maybe she should try to get her father to pay Thunderclan a visit.
Pantherfang walked along in silence, bereft and overwhelmed in grief. His own daughter should be in his jaws right now, safe and whole. But her tiny form lay limp in his mouth. Bear had given the order to kill her once he had defeated him in battle. Once again, his loss was his own fault. How could he face Rainfeather? How could he face another day, knowing that his daughter was dead? The fate of the forest was lost. His daughter, one of the chosen eight, was gone. Everything was in vain. There was nothing left to live for. (continued in Windclan)

Coal turned his eyes to Bear as the Windclanners left. He twitched his tail as he waited for Bear to do or say something, but the giant black tom still seemed to be winded. Eventually Coal became impatient.
"Rise." he spoke the single word with authority clear in his voice.

Bear winced and gritted his teeth in anger. He was surprised he was even alive after he ordered the death of Pantherfang's daughter....but he had been punished severely enough by his nephew for that devastation. Collapsing a couple of times on his way up, Bear finally stood on trembling legs.

"Have the she-cats tend to you," Coal sighed. This wasn't looking good.
"Take comfort in the fact that you have broken Pantherfang, Bear. Take the time to heal your wounds. Lostclan can hardly afford to lose you," Coal said. Where was Jag? Now was hardly the time to disappear... he thought to himself.

Bear snarled furiously. "What she-cats? Kyri and Rue betrayed us. We have sent out one of our own to hunt down and kill them as we speak."
(arg, we could use some healers lol hopefully more people will join soon. I need to keep advertising around)

(I'd make one if I didn't have three Lostclan cats already. xD)
Abyss stepped out of Midnight's den.
"Mother taught me some herblore, Bear," she sneered at him, thinking it pathetic for a cat his size to sustain such injuries. Her tail twitched impatiently. Where was Obsidian when you needed her? She knew much more about stinking plants than she did. Midnight looked vaguely surprised, but then he assumed a bored expression. Now that the battle was over, he had nothing to do. No one to maim.

Bear stood there, fuming in anger. Every cat could hear his furious seething breaths. How humiliating! But anyone of them would have faired worse than I did fighting Pantherfang....next time we meet, it will be I who comes out victorious! he thought in determination, grinding his fangs together.

Abyss' eyes were indifferent, as usual, as she looked over Bear's wounds. Midnight padded up to her, his pure black pelt well groomed, the blood cleaned from it. His own wounds were swathed with cobweb, where Trueeyes had pinned him with his claws.
"Is there any way I can help, dearest one?" he asked, an affectionate purr rising in his throat. His gold eyes glinted as he looked at her.
"Get me some cobweb, won't you?" she replied, flicking her small tail across his shoulder.
Coal blinked in surprise. He had hardly expected this from his old apprentice, let alone Abyss, who was probably the nastiest out of Twlightshade's children. She was the only one with the ability to pin Illusion to the ground. His eyes followed Midnight with curiosity as Midnight pressed his forehead to Abyss' shoulder, before padding off towards the medicine den, returning a few moments later with his paw wrapped in cobweb, running on three legs towards the smaller black she-cat. She took it from him, sinister affection showing in her dark blue eyes. Turning away from him, she began pressing the cobweb into the worst of his wounds, her tail twitching in frustration when she found some of them were out of her reach, simply due to Bear's sheer size.

Bear shut his eyes tightly and growled, but showed no other physical signs of the unbearable pain he was feeling. He remained completely still, wondering exactly how ginger the young she-cat was being with his wounds.

"I can't reach the wounds on your back, Bear," she meowed stiffly, frustrated, that she was small and Bear was huge. But that was Bear's fault in her sinister mind. She was young, and had yet to grow. So it was Bear's fault he was so big. Her tail flicked as she waited for him to do something about it. If he could lean down a little more, she could get to them. Not that she was particularly worried. For all she cared, Bear could live with some pain. She would make sure he did not die, but he could suffer all he wanted. She would watch, and probably laugh. She glanced at Coal, a look of irritation, and aggression that the lithe black tom did not see. She was suspicious of him. He was far too close to her mother.

Bear could hardly contain his fury. All he could think about was how Kyri could have reached the wounds easily, and how he'd like to make her feel his pain the next time he saw her. Hissing through his teeth, Bear stooped awkwardly into a kneeling position.
