Creamcloud blinked her eyes open to find herself in Emeraldeye's den. Standing up, she shook tufts of moss and bits of bracken from her white pelt. Then it struck her once again, hard. Emeraldeye wasn't here. And neither was Otterpaw.
The death of the young apprentice was a blow to Riverclan, but it was also tampering with the Medicine Cat's mind. Lately the world had been thrown off balance for her, and she had been having dreams of the past, and drifting off in a sense of mind, thinking of the days before. So it was still a numbing shock to wake to find those she knew so short a time before dead, and the threat of Lostclan looming closer than ever before.
She closed her eyes and drew in a sharp breath, and the scents of herbs whirled in her senses, then opened them again and stretched, shaking each paw, feeling the soreness and stiffness in her limbs. She'd been sleeping too long.
Sniffing the air experimentally, she discovered that one scent in the air was missing. Moving to examine the herbs before her paws, she shifted them apart, to find a very small pile of horsetail beneath clumps of thyme and marigold.
She sighed and went out the enterance of her den under the light of the sky. It looked like it might rain, she'd have to hurry if she didn't want to get wet. Not that she minded the water, but after the warmth of her nest she wasn't interested in getting rained on.
Muttering to herself, she walked out of camp, then remindeing herself if someone foudn her missing they might get worried, quickly dashed back in, yowled, I'm going out to look for herbs!" then shot back out in the quiet of the forest.
