Phoenixpaw quickly dozed off to sleep, feeling safe underneath her father. (His mate's name is Magicheart)
Moontears sighed. "How far is it? I wouldn't recommend any kind of extensive journey, but if it is what she must do...." he trailed off.
"It is." Pantherfang replied, his green eyes glowing in the darkening camp. "This clan can't function without a leader for long. Sunstorm needs the nine lives of a leader." he said quietly.

"Perhaps... StarClan will give her the strength the make the journey," Whitepaw whispered, unsure, watching as Sunstorm slept, as the ginger fur rose and fell. She wrapped her crystal tail around her small paws. She glanced at Pantherfang, and fancied she saw a new light in his eyes, one that glowed whenever his green orbs landed upon Sunstorm.

Normally, the ginger warrior would have wanted to talk with Pantherfang about Sunstorm, but for now, Russettail was content to stay exactly where he was, protecting his daughter with his life. He had no intention of having Phoenixpaw wake up and find herself alone in the clearing, her father abandoning her to talk to other cats. No, he would stay right here, and if they wanted to talk to him, they could just come over. However, he was curious, and if he strained his ears, he could make out what his friend and the two medicine cats were talking about. Sunstorm! Moontears was worried about her - could she make the journey? She had to, otherwise that would leave the Clan leaderless until every cat got their heads together and decided on someone to replace Sunstorm. That would not be good... no, StarClan would have to help Sunstorm make it through this, otherwise WindClan would be left in shambles!

Phoenixpaw saw her brother, Inkpaw, in her dreams. "Inkpaw!" she called to him excitedly, as she ran through the tall grasses that gradually became shorter, marking the border between Thunderclan and Windclan. "Inkpaw, what's wrong?" she called to him. Her brother gazed at her with a worried look and said nothing, half of his face obscured in shadow so that she could see no features. "Where's mom?! INKPAW?!" Phoenixpaw yowled, frustrated that he brother wouldn't answer. The ember colored apprentice jolted awake and found her father standing over her still. "Dad, we have to go to Thunderclan, we just have to! I had a dream about Inkpaw, and I'm worried!" she mewed in a pressing tone.
Moontears gazed at Whitepaw. "Do you have herbs for cats that have to make long journies?" he asked her. "We have some in the mountains, but its old knowledge and the plants are scarce. We rarely have had to leave for any reason...." he spoke quietly, racking his brain for the knowledge he needed.

"Yes, we have traveling herbs. Ripplewhisker showed me how to mix them, since we had to visit the Moonpool for me to become a full-fledged apprentice," Whitepaw perked up. That at least, she knew how to do. One of the few things Rippletail had been able to show her before she was killed. She was sad that her former mentor had died before Whitepaw had even had a chance to get to know her, or learn very much from her at all.

Moontears smiled. "Great!" he said, feeling some energy and excitement flow back into his paws. I know we'll manage this somehow. he thought optimistically to himself.
Pantherfang turned to the medicine cats. "If we are short on herbs, I can make the journey without them. Just make sure that Sunstorm has as much as you can give her." he meowed flatly.

Russettail looked at his daughter, his eyes wide with shock. How…? he decided not to dwell on it. If Phoenixpaw was right, they didn’t have much time. He just wished he had time to talk to Pantherfang and rest before doing anything else. "Are you sure?" he meowed, flexing his claws. The ginger tom was worried, an emotion that he was quite used to at this point. Having a mate and son in another Clan didn't help, either.

"I think we have enough," Whitepaw meowed. She began to wonder if Pantherfang's concern for Sunstorm was born simply from loyalty to his Clan or perhaps something even deeper than that.

Pantherfang nodded but said nothing.
"Yes, I'm sure." Phoenxipaw mewed. "We could just go check really fast and get some fresh kill on the way back." she offered.
Moontears finished collecting the herbs from the den. "Look complete? Are we missing anything you think?" he asked Whitepaw.

Russettail trusted her daughter more than he trusted himself, so he nodded in agreement. "Okay. But it has to be fast..." he knew this was important, but he didn't want to get caught on other clan's territories, as that would be quite bad for them in the Clan's state. "We're going to go get some fresh-kill," he announced, then walked slowly but deliberately out of camp, trying to act like he was simply hungry.

Whitepaw glanced at the fresh-kill pile. It could definitely use some offerings. It was starting to get miserably low, and she knew that know was a good time to hunt, considering how many cats were wounded. She flicked her tail in acknowledgement before turning back to the herbs she and Moontears were sorting.
"Ithink we have enough here. Thankfully, the Moonpool is in WindClan territory, so we won't have to travel as far as the other Clan cats would," she meowed, relief coloring her voice and lightening her crystal eyes. She glanced at the open horizon, watching as the sun sank lower, and Silverpelt began to appear in the fading sky. She glanced up at the warrior ancestors, her thoughts curious as the stars were waking up, ready for night when they would watch over their sleeping desendants.

Pantherfang stood sentinel, waiting to get the ok from the medicine cats to begin the journey. Every once in a while he would steal an occasional expressionless glance at Sunstorm, and then he would look away again, lost in thought-- and invisible to any onlooker-- torn in his heart. He flicked his ears nervously as Russettail and Phoenixpaw made for the camp exit. He understood Russettail not wanting to be separated, but at the same time...she was one of the Eight, and she would most likely be safer in camp. His thoughts jumped back to his own lost daughter, Sparrowpaw, and he shuddered. She had been in camp when she was stolen away, and no cat was able to prevent it--and when he went to Lostclan camp, he failed in saving her. The giant black tom wanted to disappear, to lay down and vanish into the earth, if possible.
Phoenixpaw trotted after her father, having to run much more quickly to keep up with her father's long strides. (Continue in Thunderclan)

((I guess we'll have to find someone else to play Russettail now that Ember has left... I'll play him if I can, but I'm not really sure how I would go about it...))

(argh, how annoying)
Pantherfang glanced back at Sunstorm. "Whenever you feel ready to head to the Moonpool, we shall go." He hesitated and then added, "don't feel like you need to push it. In times like these, Starclan can understand us bending the rules a bit." there would be no point in endangering Sunstorm's health just so she could be leader by the end of the day.

"No. I need to do this, Pantherfang," Sunstorm spoke, and began to rise to her paws, slightly unsteady at first, and Whitepaw moved in to support her on one side. As stubborn as the she-cat was, she did not refuse the young apprentices' help.
