Starpaw sensed Inkpaw's mother's sadness, as crealy as she could see it. She padded up to the she cat and pressed her muzzle to her's. "You've been like amother to me Magicheart, thank you. Don't worry, Inkpaw and I can take care of each other."

Flamestar smiled. "Inkpaw" she mewed "you're strong and independant. that is why Starclan chose you." She glanced at Magicheart. "Everything will be alright" she mewed comfortingly.

Magicheart tried to smile and nodded, unable to speak. She glanced at her son with loving eyes and blinked her approval, then let them drift to Starpaw, her adopted daughter before padding off inside the warrior's den.

Inkpaw's shoulders slumped. "I have hurt her," he sighed, his tail twitching back and forth. He thought over Flamestar's words. He was strong and independent. But was that really true? He didn't think himself to have those traits... Naturally, at his age, he didn't realize that there was more than one meaning to being strong, and being who he was, was unable to recognize his own strength.

Magicheart burried her head in her snowy white paws and trembled. It wasn't fair of her to make her son feel bad about leaving, he was chosen and she should be honored. But with the loss of Phoenixpaw to Windclan, the death of Wildpaw, Inkpaw's injury, and having her mate in another clan, the she-cat felt overwhelmed and lonely; desperate.
Firetail stirred in his sleep, his thoughts were plagued with horrible thoughts of Lostclan stealing Honeysquirrel along with her kits. He made a jerking motion as he woke up and sighed,

Flamestar looked at Inkpaw. "She will be alright, she just needs to to be by herself" she mewed. "Why don't you go hunting" she suggested "perhaps Starpaw you could collect some herbs."

Honeysquirrel's tail twitched and she rolled a bit into Firetail, then calmed again. The words of his song wove their way into her dream, soothing the similar nightmares she'd herself been having, and chasing off the fear. She purred in her sleep, feeling soothed and calmed.
Starpaw nodded and motioned for Inkpaw to follow her. "Come on" she said eagerly. "WE can both hunt and collect herbs, it'll get everything done faster, and the herb scent on us will cover up our scent and not scare the prey easily if the wind blows our scent to it."

"Let's go," he meowed quickly to Starpaw. He needed something to take his mind off all of this.

Magicheart padded out of the warriors den just as the two apprentices were about to leave. "Going out?" she asked. "Don't go too far, and call if you need anything. I'll be right inside camp here." as worried as she was, she had to trust her son, especially if he was going to be one of the heroes that saved the forest.

"Great!" Starpaw meowed happily. Then she nudged Inkpaw with her shoulder. "Don't worry about it, you aren't the first cat given an injury like that and you won't be the last. We'll make you some moves of your own, just like Brightheart had to do when she had her injury. It won't be long til you're hunting like a warrior again." She padded out the enterence, drew in the scent of the air and flicked her tail to the left. "Let's go this way; I smell juniper and catmint too I think. Maybe we can get some from the abandoned twoleg nest."

The black and white warrior proceeded to pad up to Flamestar. "Have you begun any training with Starpaw and Inkpaw yet? They're bound to need experience if they are to leave the forest..." she inquired.

Inkpaw nodded, looking enthusiastic. If Brightheart did it, he could to, of that he was becoming certain. Besides, he had made a promise to Magicheart. He would protect her, with all his might. He lead the way in the direction Starpaw had pointed.
